The purest of loves, the truest of friendships, they are so hard to lose. It is what we receive from our pets and what good humans give back in return. The millions of us from around the world who have been fortunate enough to have a bond such as this have sought comfort from that mystical place where there is no suffering or sickness. Where joy and happiness roam free throughout the meadows and fields, in the beautiful sunshine. That place is Rainbow Bridge.
The year would be 1959, Edna Clyne-Rekhy was just 19 at the time. Grieving the loss of her very first dog, Major the Labrador, she ripped some pages from her sister’s notebook and began to pencil “The Rainbow Bridge Poem“. Her final words, placed at the top of the page simply said “Rainbow Bridge“. We thank you, Edna, for what a difference you have made to the world.
Our story is one of everlasting love and heartbreaking loss. We started the Rainbow Bridge Club to create a caring and supportive community for all who have loved and lost so deeply. We are also on a mission to bring pet loss and grief into the spotlight. To champion a cause that changes how society, governments and corporations think and act about pet bereavement. With heavy hearts but heads held high, we hope you will join us, share your story and become a valued and important member of the Rainbow Bridge Club.
